Grey & Riley's Giving Bucket

Well, to start this off, we're going to re-awaken something we started last year. It'll be a good thing to start with because it'll continue throughout the year. We have kinda neglected it over the summer. Our "giving bucket" is a tall tupperware that we keep in the kitchen. Each time we go to the grocery store, Greyson and Riley pick one thing to add to the "giving bucket." Either a box of Macaroni, Ramen noodle, a canned fruti or vegetable, ect...They are in charge of putting it in the bucket while I put away groceries in the kitchen. When the bucket gets full, we'll take it to a food pantry, church or to someone who needs it.
We talked about this at the dinner table last night and it kept Greyson talking for a while. Who needs this food...lead to conversations of us being so thankful that we have a kitchen full of food each day, that our Daddy has a job so we can go to the store....then that lead to how thankful we are to have a home and not be homeless. We talked about how we couldn't imagine not having a warm, dry house to live in this week with the CONSTANT rain lately! Greyson said, "Well, we just need to go out and find all the houses that nobody wants to buy and give it to the homeless people to live in together. Then when we run out of those houses, we'll get the worker people to build them some houses."
I sure wish we could let all the 4 year olds solve the problems in our world...the solutions really should be as easy as they see it!
