Happy Summer to Kids at Genesis Women's Shelter

Nothing says simple summer fun like some bubble wands and sidewalk chalk. So, we grabbed a bunch at Walmart today and headed to Genesis Women's Shelter. Hopefully it will bring some sunshine to the little kiddos staying there.

When we delivered the bubbles and chalk they were so happy to have it because they're gathering summery things to do for "Camp G" a summer camp that they're doing for the kids this summer staying at the shelter.

TOMS SHOES

I love these shoes...they're cute, they're comfortable & the best part is when you buy a pair of TOMS shoes they donate a pair to a child in Argentina, Chile, Africa, and other parts of the world. WE LOVE TOMS!!

Can you imagine not having a pair of shoes to put on each day? Buy a new pair for you and you will also be buying one for a little boy or girl....How awesome is that!!

Sharefest 2010

Chase Oaks Church in Plano (just west of 75 on Legacy Dr.) is having Sharefest today. May 1st. They're going out into the community doing service projects all day. Swing by if you want to get involved. Carter Blood Care is also doing a blood drive til 1:00 and you can drop off donations of food, clothes and box fans til noon.

Okay...One thing I love about the fall and the start of a new school year is getting back into a routine. It always seems to be the time of year when I make my "New Year Resolutions" just a little late. :) One thing we kinda started doing regularly last year has gripped my heart and God is tugging at me to do more. So...The Jones' Family is setting a new goal this year...The ONE SWEET TREAT A WEEK DIET! Cookies, brownies and ice cream may be part of it. However, this diet is going to call for us to do ONE SWEET TREAT A WEEK...for someone else.
I thought this would be a fun way to journal the things we do as a family, so we can look back at the end of the year and remember all the joy that these simple things brought to our lives as well as others'. I don't want to fizzle out either...so this is going to keep us accountable! Not only will this be a great way to share the ideas we've come up with to serve others in our family, community, ect...but I'm really hoping other people will share their ideas with us too!
Greyson isn't in school on Fridays, so Friday is going to be our day. Some weeks, it may be something soooo simple. Other weeks, it may take a little more time, a little more $$ and a little more preparation. But, each Friday is going to have a new definition this year. Yep, we'll be celebrating the arrival of the weekend. But, now when we wake up on Friday, we're going to make sure not to just go about the day thinking of ourselves. Friday is going to be a day to celebrate others!!!
